Plantation Stud

Plantation Stud were looking for a flexible surveillance system that would not only secure the premises and identify visitors at the main entrance, but enable the stud’s owners to view foaling and check on their bloodstock at any time, from anywhere in the world.

Solution

Axis Communications IP network cameras allow access to live images and recordings from anywhere in the world, via a secure network or internet connection, so the stud’s owners could view multiple live images from their base in Ireland. Eighteen cameras were installed both indoors and outdoors providing perimeter security and regulated access to the stud. Different cameras were used for specific locations: for example, to cover the paddock where in-foal mares were turned out during the day, an Axis pan, tilt and zoom network camera was installed to make it possible to view the entire paddock from a single camera.

Our network of 18 Axis cameras gives us the versatility to monitor all aspects of the 220-acre stud farm from foaling mares to access security. The cameras are monitored 24 hours a day from a number of on-site and off-site locations. If required we can view the cameras from any remote internet connection. One recent addition to our Axis camera network is that of a PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) camera, which is used during the day to monitor mares in the paddocks during the foaling season.

Result

Recording and monitoring is handled by Axis Camera Station software running on a dedicated server, which means all recordings are fully digital and easily retrievable as they are time- and date-stamped. Cameras were chosen specifically for each location, including the covering barn, stallion boxes, office areas, entrances and paddocks.
